With SWTOR going free-to-play (you can keep playing for all the features, like Operations), Darth Hater wrote up a guide for new players over here.
On the other hand, there will be some once-active members renewing too.

So true.
This has nothing to to do with SWTOR but is simply the best ad I’ve ever seen. It’s absolutely awesome.
Very cool.
On the odd chance that people don’t realise this yet, even with the new tooltips which make it more obvious on armoring and barrels, and so on.
Orange gear – known as modifiable gear – can have its “iLevel” upgraded to beat any green or blue item you come across. No need to throw out the oranges to get an upgrade.
Below you’ll see an item go from 335 armour (rating 58), to 390 armour (rating 66). The same upgrades works for guns and lightsabers, and their maximum damage is increased. The first item in the mods panel (ie. the slot at the top of the interface) is the one which effects the entire item’s level.

You know, I love Star Wars. There are a few things that I wonder about. Let me elaborate during this downtime for 1.1.3.

I want to drop these missions but come back to them later. I don't know if I'd remember where the starting points are, though.
And

When I get onto a transport, where is Mako? There's an empty seat ffs.
Also, on skill bloat.

new skill I don't need

There are too many skills. In SWTOR v2 I bet they will rationalise some talents and skills into single abilities.
Plus

Nuff said. Why don't I get frickin cool glowy eyes or something?
Yeah
This is just awesome. Great scenery design on every planet. I like how dropships come in and lay down the spawned mobs.
I like this SWTOR database site as an alternative to those owned by zam and curse, who really are massive corporations in their own rights now, whereas KnoTOR is independently developed. Apparently he’s a redditor. Stands for “Know TOR”.
Plus it has great content. Give them a shot!
Thanks to Reddit, I found this great site which has incredibly good detail on crew skills, making money from them, how they work, and so on.
